Toast is ME.
May. 20th, 2004 10:51 amSo, I'm awake. Not again. Still. I never did get to bed last night. It was a combination of things. I put off doing that damn quiz thing until almost midnight, and then it took longer than I thought it would. (Probably because I insisted on downloading and installing MinGW and Cygwin, two compiler environments I've never used before, so I could check for syntax errors.)
Still, it means I've gotten rusty in my C++. Maybe I should take some time to work on a side project. I have some ideas for one, but my plate has been kind of full lately, trying to get this company off the ground.
I must admit, I'm also leery about working for a company that does medical imaging. I'm terribly sqeamish, and hate the sight of blood, so I'm not sure that I want to know what sorts of images they are processing there. I've already avoided one technically interesting job since it involved automating dental surgery techniques. Eeek.
And though I don't take my dreams terribly seriously, I had a bad dream just before I woke up and found the job quiz in my e-mail. I won't go into the details, but its message was roughly "Watch out! The corporate world is out to get you!" I think there is some part of my psychology that is desperately hoping this venture of mine takes off, so I never have to force myself to work another 9-to-5 shift just to satisfy a boss again.
So, since I'm still awake I think I'm going to try and see how long I can stay up. Then I'll crash for 14+ hours, and be half-way towards cycling my hours around again.
