She's had so many disapointments lately that I'm somewhat reluctant to post this, but friends tell friends things, even when its bad news.

I think I know what happened to the missing "Jade Trees Cafe" that she talked about in this post: http://www.livejournal.com/users/m_cat/23799.html.

I happened to be going along St. Laurent Blvd in Montreal today. For those who don't know the street, its a very trendy multicultural area with a wide diversity of restaurants. Well, much to my surprise I saw that a brand new Chinese Cafe had opened up with the name (in a chinese brush-stroke font) of "MEOW", which I KNOW is cat for "Its mine!".

It really looks like some other cat got ahold of the cafe and decided to set themselves up in business. If that store name is anything to go by, they aren't going to be inclined to give it back either. Then again, maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here. Maybe they ALSO ordered a Cafe from Amazon.com, only they got theirs. Still, it looks mighty suspicious!

... don't ask about the title, it'll only encourage me.

I've been trying to do an LJ post every 'morning' as part of my normal waking up routine, but yesterday that failed completely. After having all that trouble falling asleep, I slept in until 6:00 pm. I managed to sleep through both my alarm and my wife phoning me. When she finally woke me, there was a mad scramble because we were due downtown at 7:00 pm for a dinner meeting of the Montreal Transhumanist Association. What with me taking 30 minutes to be up, washed, dressed and out the door (probably a record for me), rush hour traffic, and a complete lack of parking spaces, we didn't actually get to the meeting until 7:30. Anyway, it was lots of fun and the food was pricey but really good. We had a long and fun talk until almost 11:00 pm, at which point we headed home. I got back just before 12:00, ready to start my 'day'.

Now its quarter to 8 and I'm supposed to wake my sweetie at 8 to do some grocery shopping before I get to sleepy to help out. So, I guess I should sign-off now.

For the last several days I haven't been feeling terribly productive, so I've been slogging through a huge backlog of mail. Its mostly technical papers and journals that I'm interested in, so I'm not about to just delete them unread. With diligent reading I've managed to reduce the pile to 190 e-mails and I'm now up to March of this year in my reading. If I can just keep this up for another 3 or 4 days, I may actually get the stack finished.
