Another Morning.
May. 29th, 2004 11:24 amYawn. Well, as things go, yesterday was both full and tiring. I notice that I didn't post much other than a morning message, cause I was doing stuff.
Mainly what I was doing was tracing down minor problems in our web server and making sure that everything behaves as it should. This is still not the case, but things are now behaving more in line than they were. A large part of the problem seems to be RPM's that assume that you would never need anything other than the default configuration of the products that they rely upon, and build their own configurations accordingly. Since we're doing Vhosting, we're not using the stock Apache file layout, and anything that assumes we are, has a borked config. I suspect that there are one or perhaps two programs left with such borked configs that I do no know of. Yeesh.
Anyway, that took up much of my yesterday. Around the time I was starting to feel sleepy,
taxlady suggested we go shopping and asked if I was up to it. Foolishly, I said "Sure, provided we go right away!". Well, "right away" turned out to be an hour-and-a-half later, and I was starting to feel quite tired. We got home two hours after that, and I was waaay tired, but I foolishly suggested that we have supper. This was mostly because I wanted to take half an hour to cook up some sausages and hard-boiled eggs so we could have them handy for starting Atkins.
taxlady said that she needed to cook potatoes for the potato salad for the garden party today, and if she cooked lots we could have some with the sausages. Fine.
So, an hour later she announces she's finished scrubbing and washing the potatoes, and we can now start to cook... We do that, and eat, and then I spent half-an-hour cleaning up.
So, I had planned on getting to bed by 7:00 pm or 9:00 at the absolute latest, and it was now past 10:00 pm, and I was a zombie. Worse, by forcing myself to stay awake, I had disrupted my body clock, and I knew it would take some time to convince it that I did think I was allowed to sleep now. Luckily it proved not too difficult, and I was asleep by around 11:00 pm, with my alarm set for 8:00 am this morning.
I slept through my alarm, and was woken up by
taxlady who had slept through her alarm... So now we are awake, and potato salad is being assembled, and I am thinking of breakfast. Lucky for me, there is cheese and eggs and sausage all just waiting for me. Drool. So I go do that now.
-- Oh one last note. I haven't even STARTED the Atkins diet yet and I've been losing weight for weeks. I've been gradually shifting my diet towards low-carb for the last month or two, by cutting out all sugar in my tea and coffee and eating less bread and pasta. So far I'm quite impressed, and I haven't yet done anything that makes me feel deprived. Induction will probably be a different story, but it only last two weeks, and then I get to start relaxing the food restrictions. We shall see how it goes.
