Friends are a good thing. A very good thing. Lately I've been noticing the good that friends bring into my life, not by any overt acts of theirs, but just for being themselves. For the second time in as many days I've heard a second-hand account of the activities of one friend or another, and its brought a smile to my lips. Some of my friends are helping to cheer me up in ways I'm sure they would find difficult to fathom, but I'm grateful anyway.

Greetings! You might be interested to hear that the editorial in the May 2004 "Analog" is on Xenobiology, if you haven't already. It seems unlikely, however, that it will be able to tell you anything new, given that you attended Stanley Schmidt's panel during the Worldcon and that you have probably read his book by now. I looked back at your Worldcon report and saved it on my HD since it mentions me. Wow, Livejournal gives people a lot of space. The entry has lost its formatting, however.
As you probably know, the website for "Analog" is http://www.analogsf.com. However, the editorials are not posted there. (The Book Review columns are, and the book covers are shown, a feature which the paper magazine itself does not provide).

However, I realize that you have a few more things on your mind these days than Xenobiology...
