That Corporate Look?

Its been obvious for some time now that pooq desperately needs a redesigned website. The only question in my mind is what look to go for. I think I want something that looks fluid, understated and corporate, but I've yet to find much of anything resembling that on the web. Does anyone have any favorite corporate websites (from a design standpoint)? If so, I'd love to hear about it.

The background for the links in the sidebar should be the same as the background for the sidebar (except perhaps during a rollover). The links there that point nowhere should probably be absent, For the main panel, I'd prefer light foreground on a dark background.

Umm, Google? ;-) ;-) More seriously, have a long look at Jakob Nielsen's web site (useit.com). Not because it's a good example for what you want to do, but he has been critiquing web site design from a usability perspective for many, many years, so you will find lots of information on what works and doesn't for people trying to *use* your website. Terrific resource!
