Cool Visits and Brain Melties.

I got to see my folks on the weekend at their new place in Cornwall. Its the first extended time I've had with the two of them since my wedding 9 years ago, and it was great to catch up on news. They're still busy moving in so the weekend had rather less of contemplating the mysteries of the universe than I had planned, and rather more of pushing boxes around in a 4' tall crawlspace. Still, it was good times and I'm sure we'll be visiting them again soon. It certainly didn't hurt that they have central A/C. It made their place a haven of coolth.

Before we left my Mom gave me some cash to buy an air conditioner or two, which we did yesterday. In the heat of last evening I couldn't plan whether to install one of them today, or go to a couple of events downtown I had planned to attend. Well, as my brain was a slurpee, its not surprising I got confused. One of those events was jul3z book swap, but it turns out it was YESTERDAY, and the other was a meeting which turns out to be NEXT WEEK.

So, no excuses. Its still cool enough to think although I am A) not awake yet and B) the temperature is rapidly rising. I should get at least one of the two AC units installed today. (I may need to buy a 2x4 or two to build a window seat for installing the second, we'll see when I open the box.)

The heat does indeed mess with the mind. Last week, I waited in a Starbuck's for an anime meetup that never happened, because it was actually the evening of the SF/Fantasy meetup and quarterly bookswap, which I really wanted to attend, but my brain wasn't functioning.
