Do Cats Cause Schizophrenia?

According to this article, there is now growing evidence that links Schizophrenia to a common parasite carried by cats.

I know three schizophrenic people, and none of them ever had cats in their lives.

Its clearly not a clear-cut case of cause and effect, or else the link would have been noticed much earlier. This is especially true when you realize that about 50% of the human population has contracted the parasite at some point, but far fewer than that ever show symptoms of schizophrenia.

As is, the evidence is still tentative and subject to debate, but I do find it an interesting possibility.
