Here's to Nurse Betty!

Two doors down from us lives a feisty old lady who's a retired nurse and who whiles away her time doing things like working her passage on a tramp steamer (and fighting off pirates!) and smuggling $40,000 worth of drugs into Siberia for Doctors without Borders, so it would actually get where it was destined without being confiscated somewhere along the line.

Anyway, her advice for dealing with my cold was to drink LOTS of vodka mixed with hot liquids. I'm on my first Tea-and-Vodka toddy now and either this cold has really lowered my alcohol resistance or the combination is particularly potent, but I'm having a hard time even seeing straight enough to type. (so you know the cause of any typos in this message).

I'm currently trying to decide if I want to try to have a second toddy, or if I'll simply collapse into bed after finishing this one. In either case, I can't say I'm exactly comfortable right now, but I'm certainly feeling no pain.

A few corrections: Betty isn't an "old lady" - she is an older lady ;)

Her advice wasn't, "...to drink LOTS of vodka mixed with hot liquids." It was just to drink lots of vodka.

She worked in Mongolia with Doctors without Borders. She smuggled drugs for the Red Cross. She is only semi-retired.

She really does.

But, she really doesn't like pirates. ;)
