Digital Credentials.

When I first started talking about a replacement for the Web with [livejournal.com profile] sps, one of the features that we agreed was essential was an anonymous cryptographic proof of credentials. So that, for example, one could vote in a Texas primary using an anonymous proxy, but nevertheless prove that one had the right to vote there.

It now seems that Stefan Brands has started a company called Credentica to provide software for creating, verifying and otherwise working with such Digital Credentials. I Just read an overview, and its a good place to start reading about it, if you're interested.

Oh, I should also mention that there is already an open source implementation.
